Surfaces of Section for a 512K Triaxial Model


Here's a preliminary look at some sos's from real data. We're dealing with the final state of a the "BigDrag Run 0". Chris tells me there's some problems with the data, but we have been using this run as a testing ground. We are using the 512K model with 8-folded coefficients.





Notice the prevelence of boxes/boxlets...especially in energy slice 3. There are lots of high-order resonances throughout...like the cyan-colored orbit in energy slice 1...it's the one with several loops next to a black box. Here's a plot of that orbit. Remember that the x, y, and z scales are not at all equal. In fact, the z limits are between +/- 10^-29. The other scales are set by the maximum value in each of the 3 columns so that you can see the relative importance of each coordinate. If the resolution if too terrible to see anything, you can print out a postscript version.





It's too early to talk about trends, I think. Right now, we're running the surface of section for more particles and for a larger range in energy to fill in the parameter space. Maybe then we can talk about orbital structure as a function of radius.
