This course is a study of Physics, namely Mechanics, which is the motion of objects and forces, designed for homeschoolers of ages approximately 10-14.  The student should be able to do basic mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, and divide), and be
able to do some simple abstract calculations.

Parents are welcome to attend all classes.  I expect all children to abide by the CLC learning standards:
    1.Mutual respect
    2.Active participation
    3.Deliberate focus
    4.Desire to Learn

The in-class portion of the class will involve some lecture, and some laboratory work.  The out of class work will include readings from the class textbook, The Cartoon guide to Physics  by Larry Gonick and Art Huffman.  It will also include some math problems (no more than 10), and at-home experiments to be done by the students.  For out of class work,
the experiments should be done first, then the reading, and the problems last.  The experiments are simple, and most
involve common items present in any home.  I will explain how the labs will be done in the first class.

The book should be available for purchase at Appletree books on 12419 Cedar Road (216-791-2665) in the next few days.
There will be a materials fee for lab equipment of $15.  Any excess money after buying supplies will be returned to
each family equally.

Below is the preliminary syllabus.  The page numbers refer to the pages in a Cartoon guide to Physics, except
for classes 1, 10, & 11 where there will be outside reading. The reading should be done before class meets!
